It's certainly not perfect, but it's a great 80%-solution-for-20%-effort idea. byuu-ui's solution is to say "most people will be playing with a modern four-face-button gamepad, so that's the only controller we'll support", which is surprisingly workable. A good part of that comes from wanting to support every kind of PC controller mapped to every possible emulated controller, which is admirable but the complexity quickly gets overwhelming. This is not a shortcoming with the current system, Asura.īyuu-ui is in part a reaction to the crippling complexity of higan-ui. There is an outstanding issue for this feature, with a database already made, just waiting to be coded. There is zero need to manually map this stuff, or set the controller port. Oh, and SNES mouse games should obviously be auto-bound to the left analog stick and computer mouse simultaneously. It's not worth spending 10 minutes manually binding every system because a couple systems did something bizarre and the auto-mapping scheme might be slightly different than what a person on his own would have come up with. Take a poll on gbatemp if you are that uncertain about your choices. Go with the most popular equivalents that people use when playing 6-face gamepads on 4-face gamepads. That people have to discover, through usage, which 2 buttons got bound to shoulders is kind of a given. It's a simple re-labeling PR.Īlso, the 6 face button design didn't win out. I feel like my proposed solution to this was good, but byuu didn't take it.
